RESIDENT EVIL (2002)
DIRECTOR : Paul Anderson
CAST : Milla Jovovich
Michelle Rodriguez
Eric Mabius
James Purefoy
Colin Salmon
RUNTIME : 100 minutes

Based on the game where the deadly T-virus is unleashed within an underground lab turning everyone into zombies.

Resident Evil
COMMENTS It starts off pretty quickly with someone stealing the t-virus and then unleashing it into the air vent of the lab infecting everyone inside immediately. Fast forward a little and we're introduced to a special forces unit whos job is to destroy the lab and the Alice character played by the very hot Milly Jovovich. There are many scenes where she's practically naked. Well anyway, the movie just gets better and better from there.

The special effects were pretty good. The atmosphere was dark and the directing was done well. I knew the director of Event Horizon would give this movie some hope, just wasn't too sure until now. The look for the zombies were Romero-like, mixed with some computer graphics here and there. It was the first time I ever saw computer graphics mixed in with the look of the zombies. Was quite interesting. Still, nothing beats the old gory effects for the classic
zombie films.

I thought the way the film ended was perfect and was one of the best endings I've ever seen in a horror movie. Somewhat of a homage to Romero and leaves it open for the sequel. So far they are already working on the second film, with Milla's character in Raccoon City where she will encounter the Nemesis creature. Hopefully this will also mean that she will meet up with the S.T.A.R.S. members.

Resident Evil

OVERALL Good entertaining movie. A lot better than I thought it would be. This should satisfy zombie fans and fans of the video game. Check this movie out and look out for the sequel!
